Matters formed in late 2015 in the old industrial space of Digbeth, Birmingham. Difficult to categorise, elements of techno, psychedelic and trance swirl together to weave a dark, driving, all encompassing sound that shifts from film score to basement nightclub to industrial noise. Intent on being a live band from the start, rather than a studio project, Matters’ live shows are intense, featuring self created lights and visuals where possible, seamlessly moving from one track to the next to create an immersive experience.
Matters have performed at Supersonic Festival and have also played alongside artists such as Holy Fuck, The Utopia Strong, Hey Colossus, The Messthetics and Flat Worms, they have also worked with The British Council on a performance for the Uzbekistan Festival, Wecosmos.
The band’s latest release saw them team up with Blue Ruth for the track Plastik, which was released in 2021 via Static Caravan as a limited edition 10”.
